DFP15 vs. (u)DFP20: Which wheelbase is right for you?

Edited

Choosing between the DFP15 and the (u)DFP20 comes down to what you value most in your drive: raw power and upgradability, or modern integration and a compact footprint.

Both bases use high-grade industrial motors, offering professional-level reliability and precision, not just a consumer toy, at a price point that makes sense for serious sim racers. Both are designed, produced and tested in Germany.

The DFP15: Agile & Integrated

The DFP15 is our newest generation of industrial motor. Because it is slightly smaller, it is incredibly agile with very low friction. This allows it to communicate those tiny, high-frequency details from the sim-like road texture and subtle slip with amazing clarity.

  • Clean Setup: The control electronics are built directly into the motor body. This means no extra control box on your floor and fewer cables cluttering your rig.

  • Built-in Hub: The custom motor body allows us to pass the USB signal through to a hub on the back of the base.

  • Ready to Race: It comes with our new generation QR Connect pre-installed on the motor side.

The (u)DFP20: Professional & Proven

The (u)DFP20 is our "Upgradable" flagship. It has been on the market for years and has a legendary reputation for reliability in the professional space.

  • Growth Potential: The unique "Upgradable" feature means this base can grow with you. You can start at a lower torque rating and unlock the full 20 Nm potential later as your skills (and arm strength!) develop.

  • Pure Power: With 20 Nm of peak torque, you’ll never find yourself wanting more overhead, ensuring you never "clip" the signal even in high-downforce cars.

  • Maximum Precision: The 22-bit optical encoder provides the highest possible resolution for steering input.

Which one should you choose?

Consider the DFP15 if: You want the latest tech in a compact, highly integrated package. It’s perfect if you want a clean rig with no external control box, and you appreciate having the flexibility of a bottom-mount option. The 15 Nm peak torque is the "sweet spot" for the vast majority of mid-range and enthusiast racers. Most users find the DFP15 great for drifting!

Consider the (u)DFP20 if: You want a battle-proven flagship. If you want the option to start at a lower torque and "unlock" more power later, or if you simply want the ultimate 20 Nm overhead for professional training, the (u)DFP20 is the gold standard.
